Colby Joseph Speck, age 10, was recently honored by the Heroes Grove Committee for saving the life of a family member by performing the Heimlich maneuver on her.

Dauphin County Heroes Grove Ribbon Cutting Scheduled
Official opening of amphitheater dedicated to community servants
Over a decade in the making, Dauphin County Heroes Grove in Lower Paxton Township’s Brightbill Park will officially open with ribbon cutting ceremonies on Friday, June 17th at 6 P.M. A free concert by the Lower Paxton Variety Band will immediately follow the ribbon cutting.

Dauphin County Heroes Grove Forms Nonprofit Corporation
Project now underway in Brightbill Park, Lower Paxton Township
(Dauphin County, PA) – Dauphin County Heroes Grove has now incorporated as a 501c3 nonprofit foundation known as Heroes Fund, Inc. The new nonprofit will serve as the fundraising vehicle for Dauphin County Heroes Grove which is now under construction in Brightbill Park in Lower Paxton Township.

Robert Stakem, an emergency medical technician/paramedic was recently awarded the Hero Award by the Dauphin County Heroes Grove committee for his record of exemplary service to his community. Pictured here are State Representative Ronald Marsico, Robert Stakem, and Vince Pinizzotto, Chairman of the Dauphin County Heroes Grove committee. Heroes Grove is a tribute to those who serve including veterans, emergency responders, law enforcement personnel, teachers and citizens who have demonstrated their dedication to our communities, the Commonwealth and the nation.

The Dauphin County Heroes Grove Committee recently presented its Hero Award to Katharine and Cecilia Claire Olmstead. The Hershey Middle School students came to the aid of a 79-year old neighbor who had fallen on ice last winter and lay unnoticed on the sidewalk until the girls came along. Mr. Vinny Cherry was recognized as the Hero of the Month for Dauphin County Heroes Grove. Vinny Cherry is a 2012 graduate of Mount St. Mary’s University, with a BA in philosophy and a minor in theology. He will be entering nursing school in June 2013 with plans to become a nurse anesthetist. Vinny is the founder of Vinny’s Kids, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charity established in 2004 when he was 14 years old. Inspired by his own experience while hospitalized at age 7, Vinny hoped to make the hospital experience less stressful for young patients.

Detective Aaron Osman was recognized as the Hero of the Month for Dauphin County Heroes Grove. Detective Osman is a graduated from Susquehanna Township High School and later from Bloomsburg University. Aaron has been with the Susquehanna Township Police Department since January 2003. Prior to working for the Township, Aaron worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an investigator with the Office Of Inspector General.
